Governors Greg Abbott (R-TX), Doug Ducey (R-AZ) and Susana Martinez (R-NM) have all embraced President Trump's proclamation to immediately use the National Guard for border security. Abbott said Trump's action is imperative to "secure the southern border and uphold the Rule of Law." He said Texas will "implement robust border security efforts, and this partnership will help ensure we are doing everything we can to stem the flow of illegal immigration.”
Ducey said Arizona "welcomes the deployment of National Guard to the border." He said Washington has ignored the issue and help is needed. Ducey says that for Arizona, "it's all about public safety."
Martinez says she is full support and has already spoken to the New Mexico National Guard.
The Governor also said the U.S. wouldn't be in the current situation if Congress would act on border security reforms.
A spokesman for Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA) said they are still reviewing the request and a decision has not been made.
