“I am pleased with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to
remove the unconstitutional stay on most of President Trump’s executive order
until they hear arguments and make a final decision in October. My mission in
Congress is to restore the horizontal and vertical separation of powers, and
this order is a victory for that cause. Regardless of what you might think of
the policy itself, the President has the authority to make these decisions, and
I have been extremely vocal in supporting the administration’s position.
“I wholeheartedly agree with the justices as they wrote in
their order, “but when it comes to refugees who lack any such connection to the
United States, for the reasons we have set out, the balance tips in favor of the
Government’s compelling need to provide for the Nation’s security.” This order
was a victory for the U.S. Constitution and for President Trump’s commitment to
his promise to keep our nation secure. The United States of America will always
be a nation of and compassionate to immigrants, but we must ensure the safety of
American citizens above all else.”
