ICYMI: Ex-Arizona Congressman Rick Renzi released from Federal Prison

Former Arizona Congressman Rick Renzi was scheduled to be released from federal prison January 7,2017 after serving a 3-year sentence for corruption.
Renzi was actually released from custody at a halfway house in the Washington, D.C., area early Friday morning, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
Renzi was convicted in 2013 of conspiring to use his congressional post to make companies buy his ex-business associate's land so the associate could repay a debt to Renzi.
Prosecutors said Renzi looted a family insurance business to help pay for his 2002 campaign, but he wasn't convicted of illegally using money from the firm.
Renzi was convicted of filing false statements with regulators after failing to use premiums collected from nonprofit groups to buy policies.

Renzi represented Arizona's 1st Congressional District from 2003 to 2009. Source

  1. Love this guy, who was wrongly attacked so much worse than I ever was. I've still never met him, but have learned much about his character and he has the highest ethics; he was targeted because he was a threat to the left. So I've written 8 articles about him and his innocence, and he will ultimately be exonerated. His appeal to the Ninth Circuit begins oral arguments in March. I'm looking forward to covering it, as Sessions finally cleans out the corrupt left-wing prosecutors at the DOJ.
