Hillary Clinton today will deliver remarks about the
police-involved deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile while campaigning
alongside Vice President Joe Biden in his hometown of Scranton, Penn., as well
as during an appearance at the African-Methodist Episcopal Convention in
Philadelphia, according to a campaign aide.
Although this is the presumptive Democratic presidential
nominee’s first time campaigning with the vice president, the event will now
reflect the shootings of the two black men in Louisiana and Minnesota that have
resulted in protests throughout the country.”
…During both of her campaign events today, Clinton, an aide
said, will “renew her calls to ensure justice is served and will reemphasize
the urgent need to reform our broken criminal justice system.”” Clinton was also
scheduled to appear in Philadelphia Friday night as the keynote speaker at the
African Methodist Episcopal Church’s Bicentennial Conference, which marks the
AME church’s 1816 founding in Philadelphia.
Earlier announcement via
the New York Times:
“Mrs.
Clinton will be in Pennsylvania, with Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.,
at events that will touch on the police-related deaths of Alton B.
Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota, as protests raged in
Chicago and New York.
Mrs. Clinton, who
is seeking to reassemble President Obama’s winning coalition amid the rise of
the Black Lives Matter movement, has made criminal justice overhaul a
hallmark of her campaign.”
Black Lives Matter member/sympathizer shot and
killed/wounded eleven Dallas police officers yesterday – followed by Black Lives Matter supporters CHEERING the
deaths of those officers:The Clinton campaign then abruptly cancelled the anti-police event that was to be held today. Apparently the optics just didn’t feel right to them.
