President Bill Clinton was saying the same
thing that GOP nominee Donald Trump has been saying this election cycle.
In his 1996 State of the Union address, Bill Clinton uttered the
following words:
WATCH BILL CLINTON ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
“After years of neglect, this administration has
taken a strong stand to stiffen the protection of our borders. We are
increasing border controls by 50 percent. We are increasing inspections to
prevent the hiring
of illegal immigrants. And tonight, I announce I will sign an executive
order to deny federal contracts to businesses that hire illegal immigrants.”
An overwhelming majority of conservatives will agree
with that statement. However, if you fast forward 20 years, you get the exact
opposite from the 42nd president’s wife:
“The American people support
comprehensive immigration reform not just because it’s the right thing to do —
and it is — but because they know it strengthens families, strengthens our
economy, and strengthens our country … We can’t wait any longer for a path to
full and equal citizenship,” Hillary Clinton said in May.
The double standard of the Democrat
Party is simply ludicrous. When Donald Trump says these words — and he has —
the sky is suddenly falling.
But Bill Clinton, who said these words
and more, remains the hero of the party. Seems reasonable.
