Many Americans are relieved, as the bill was said to limit American sovereignty and grant President Obama unprecedented executive powers. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle soundly rejected the measure for a variety of reasons. The bill was being touted by former Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan. However, he could not rally the troops and neither could Obama. The President paid a visit to capitol hill today to drum up support, but was unsuccessful. Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was among the democrats who voted no. Now the President faces an embarrassing defeat at the hands of his own party, as the fate of the entire trade deal is now up in the air. - Via AAN
