for Attorney General Eric Holder...

“The Attorney General Is Not Above the Law”

WASHINGTON, DC –Congressman Paul Gosar, D.D.S (R-AZ) released the following (Watch) detailed statement and video today pressing for Congress to move forward with contempt charges against Attorney General Eric Holder for his role in the cover up of Operation Fast and Furious.
Earlier this week, Darrell Issa, Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, received a letter from the Office of the Deputy Attorney General James Cole in which the Department of Justice pleaded against contempt charges. Congressman Gosar responded to the letter saying:
“It is obvious that we have reached the end of our diplomatic conversations with the DOJ. This is why I have repeatedly called for contempt charges to be filed and I am pushing for it to happen now. The Attorney General and his senior staff continue to hide the facts and refuse to take responsibility for the lack of information, and misinformation, they have provided to Congress and the American people. I have also led the charge for a vote of No Confidence (H.Res. 490) in Mr. Holder, which currently has 111 members of Congress co-sponsoring it.”
“The Attorney General is tasked with upholding the law; this does not mean he is above it. American lives have been put in harm’s way by the arming of dangerous cartel members by the U.S. federal government under Attorney General Holder’s watch. The lack of disciplinary action and accountability for those involved and the constant stonewalling by those tasked with providing answers is inexcusable. I demand better from our Attorney General. I reiterate the time for contempt charges is now.”
