Will not negotiate with a Hamas backed government. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated Tuesday there was no chance his nation would agree to move its borders to those that existed prior to the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. In a speech to a joint meeting of Congress in Washington, D.C., Netanyahu again rejected President Barack Obama's plan for a peace agreement with Palestinians based on those territorial lines. "The border will be different from the one that existed on June 4, 1967. Israel will not return to the indefensible boundaries of 1967," Netanyahu said to a standing ovation and applause from Washington lawmakers. "Peace must be anchored in security," he said. "Peace cannot be imposed. It must be negotiated."Netanyahu sought to position Israel as the only true ally of the US in the region, noting his country's freedoms relative to the region.
