Editor's Note: I transcribed the dialog of a 5 part video interview on June 22, 2007 between retired Army Colonel Earl Hopper and Gerard Kiley of Veterans Against John McCain. To make the reading flow easier, I removed the repeated phrases, false starts, etc. that hamper a printed version of an unrehearsed conversation. Earl Hopper had spent 30 years with the Army in Airborne Special services and with Army Intelligence and was a founding member of the National League of Families dedicated to retuning living POWs and MIAs of the Vietnam War.
The impression that McCain and the media has attempted to portray of McCain's 5 1/2 years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam is about as far from the truth that one could possible go. McCain, from the first moments of his capture, had behaved as a COLLABORATOR and propaganda tool for his North Vietnamese captors. McCain had engaged in no less than 30, and likely as many as 38 anti-American propaganda broadcasts for Radio Hanoi during the period of his captivity. Far from the image of a dedicated American "hero" sweating it out in a North Vietnamese prisoner's "hotbox" for 5 1/2 years, McCain was often given "special" treatment by his captors, who were fully aware of his father's and grandfather's 4 star admiral positions with the Navy. No one has ever witnessed McCain's supposed "torture" at the hands of his jailers. The consensus opinion of other POWs in McCain's camps was that McCain was NEVER tortured by the North Vietnamese. McCain's disgraceful and wholly reprehensible conduct (along with John Kerry) during the 1991-93 Senate Committee on POW/MIAs leaves no doubt that McCain is a traitor to this country and its veterans and especially to the families of POWs and MIAs. ..Ken Adachi].

JD, bad decision on becoming the spokesperson in an infomercial for Government sponsored funding; McCain is in the hip pocket of Charlie Keating and the Keating Five yet no response from JD's camp. It's time for JD to fight back and forget the laws of chivalry. If you taste, smell, feel, look like shit; sooner or later you're going to have to step in it. Kick some ass JD, it's the way McCain fights so you'll have to take off the gloves if you expect to win.
2. So Much for McCain's, "Character Matters", look who he takes money from and has as a friend! Watch how fast McCain will throw his Buddy, Rothstein under the bus now! Arizona Needs to Vote McCain out once and for all! He's part of the problem! He has the gaul to criticize JD Hayworth and keep using Abramoff as an excuse. JD was cleared of any wrongdoing or involvement! McCain conducted the hearings.....JD was never called!
3. "Character Matters" McCain at his best...publicly humiliating POW/MIA Wives & Mothers ! So much for respect for women ! Bet they won't vote for him! He refuse to keep the POW issue open.... go check out why! Hanoi Jane's new buddy... he forgave her !
4. More than a little interesting, isn't it, that here is the man who spoke so much about the need for campaign reform. Called politics such a sleazy activity it must be monitored closely - and his McCain-Feingold Act presented front and center as centerpiece of his 'integrity.' No wonder he knows how dirty it is; he's been wallowing in the mud of illegality so long he fugures everybody else must do it too. Protect us from his venality, he was only doing it to stay in office, and guide Arizonans and Americans into 'moderate Progressivism.' (Um, isn't that still Communism?)... he's run his races, had the moments in the stadium with the crowds cheering - and now we find despite his protestations about anabolic steroid use, was one of the mainliners himself... It's time to bow out or get booted out, John. Go JD

McCain has the Gaul to spend Million of campaign dollars trying to make JD Hayworth look dirty.....McCain is the "Filth" of the earth for what he has done to the MIA's and POW Families not to mention all the other disgusting corrupt scandals he is heavily involved in, disgracing Arizona.... Using his POW status is a sin..he boldly brags about how he graduated 3 from the bottom of his class at Annapolis at the American Taxpayers Expense for his education because his "Daddy" got him a slot in the Academy! 8. Why any decent American would support and vote for McCain after they way he has arrogantly treated the families of POW'S and MIA's is sickening! McCain needs to be defeated this election... Arizona does not need him as a Senator! He's not the Person everyone thinks he is..... he's a dirty politician, a little Bully and Nero who inhales his own ego! Maybe his staff and wife worship him, but many Arizona folks are fed up, and have an opportunity to vote him out this time! JD Hayworth thank you for standing up for Arizona and being tough....McCain and all his dirty politics, lies and millions of out of state campaign funds are not fooling voters!

Just look at his behavior, anger management issues, temper, scandals, and the unforgivable sinful way he has treated the families of American Hero's ...this is not made up stuff, it happened.... can you imagine if this were your loved one? Would you vote for McCain who paints himself as a Hero and "Character Matters" The press needs to start exposing the true McCain for once, he's a two time looser for President and you wonder who he lost! Arizona does not want him back!
10. All of John McCain's foibles needs to be exposed... Do Not Give John McCain a "Free Pass" it, inexcusable and shameful what he did! Mc Cain has seen better days as Arizona 's Senator and needs to be voted out.... he will stoop to anything to try and defeat JD Hayworth.
11.JD HAYWORTH is a SAINT compared to McCain! Time to get down and dirty like the McCain Camp is doing, but this info is all TRUE about McCain, and every Voter in Arizona needs to know what John McCain truly is! We need him out of the Senate and JD Hayworth in!
All of these Veterans, Pow's and People cannot be lying... McCain is not the "Character Matters" person you think! Just look at how he behaves, the temper, the anger, the scandals, the arrogance, the lack of response to Arizona Voters.... it's all there... Why would anyone want to Vote for Him?

Dear Senator McCain,
What prompted this letter is your volume of negative mailings regarding your opponent. “He who lives in a glass house should not throw stones”. John, you are WRONG sending information that is making YOU look worse. No one is perfect, and you are far from it. PLEASE stop wasting postage on ANY mailings to me. I’m glad that I do not support any party financially. Your negative vote regarding a settlement for the eligible “notch“ people did you in. Congress had the gall to vote themselves 23% wage increases during the period the “notch” was debated.
Although I had not planned to write you again after your “fiasco” trying to be President I, along with many others, hold you responsible for the asinine, egotistical, inept President who is willfully DESTROYING our country. Your ill-conceived running mate, a self serving “quitter”, helped do you in. I had not planned to vote for either you or your opponent until I saw he was a Muslim “Socialist”. I reluctantly voted for you. I grew up in the FDR era and saw what “socialism” is. We still have the Social Security “ponzi” scheme. It is not functioning as planned due to TOO much unemployment. That is also the fault of Congress for being too passive. THINK!
Your campaigning for over two years took you away from the job for which you were elected. NOW, you want to be re-elected to Congress. I may be old, but not yet senile as are many members of Congress. Now, you are doing it again (absenteeism). In the private sector, you would be long gone. I am looking forward for someone better.
The only thing that you and your friend Jon Kyl did right is ask for more troops to secure the borders. The fence is a waste of “borrowed” money. As you should be aware, 7 of the 9 terrorists of 9/11 got in with “faux” papers. Think, it won’t hurt.
I personally believe, and have since his election, that Obama is a “Trojan Horse” planted by the Muslims. He has no traceable paper trail and his eligibility to be President is in question . You and other members of Congress have it made, and could care less. John, RETIRE and enjoy life. Your patriotism and loyalty will always be remembered. “Enjoy EACH day, there are NO guaranteed tomorrows”. You’re already 72. Average life expectancy is 77.7. THINK!
