During Newt's live Facebook video session, he Discusses #Brexit vote and answers questions https://www.facebook.com/newtgingrich/?fref=ts, former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said that the Brexit referendum should scare Hillary Clinton, as it revealed a worldwide anti-establishment backlash.
Gingrich made the remarks Friday, one day after the United Kingdom voted to exit the European Union by a vote of 52 to 48 percent. The Brexit poll was widely viewed as a referendum not just on membership in the EU but on being controlled by distant bureaucratic elites in Brussels.
“I suspect after the Brexit result that Hillary Clinton has to be pretty darn worried that there just might be a tidal wave building of populist, anti-establishment feeling, and she clearly is the establishment,” Gingrich said, according to the Washington Examiner.
“There is no possible way that Secretary Clinton will be able to hide from being the establishment candidate,” he added.
Gingrich also pointed out that “uncontrolled” immigration and terrorism, two of the major factors that swung Wednesday’s U.K. vote to the “leave” contingent, were also major issues in our November election.
Newt added that the vocal support of Clinton and President Barack Obama for the “remain” position may have hurt that side of the vote.
