Listening to former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld at the final RNC Spring Meeting luncheon on 4-22-2016, when asked of the number one crucial thing occurring globally, I was impressed with the similarity of his insight—the attack on the Nation State and the rise of extreme terrorist militancy among young males whether in ISL, gang warfare or other disruptive activities.
Rumsfeld’s concern for immigration started with the repeated turning away of Israeli refugees by this nation during WWII leading many to go back and face the holocaust’s ravages of extermination.
By the same token he spoke passionately about the problems with sanctuary cities which are violating federal laws and taking in many, who as European nations are coming to understand, want to keep their own communities, imposing their own culture and rules rather than join or assimilate into the hosting nations. As such, he spoke about the unwillingness of people to assimilate to their new environments noting many didn’t want to immigrate but left to avoid getting killed on their own turf.
So how do we get dissimilar cultures and people to cooperate, live harmoniously and build a better, stronger and fairer nation? Lost in our citizen education has been the teaching of Civics and American History as prima facia evidence of what our nation is about and what is required for its functioning. To deep thinkers, states or nations individuality are important as well as integral to the survival of that history.
When Iraq blends into Syria or Mexico or Canada morphs with the USA as the North American Union depicted on the back of our licenses, are we to suspect that international boundaries are to be obliterated and one world of a New World Order fast approaches? It is the ability to exist with our differences which will produce a diversity from which we all benefit and which captures scientific biodiversity.
As the deer jump in the road or elephants fast lose their war for survival due to poachers and medicinal panderers or lion’s turf becomes encroached upon by human populations outgrowing their range, where will we be if humans overrun and consume the land without regard to the need to replenish it or support of those creatures needing room for coexistence.
