SCOTUS-Upholds Independent Redistricting Commission-AZ Legislature Loses

The U.S. Supreme Court denied the Arizona Legislature in its bid to overturn the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission formed by voters 20 years ago.

In a 5-4 decision, the Justices found that Arizona voters can set up the redistricting commission. HERE

Arizona voters adopted Proposition 106, an initiative
aimed at the problem of gerrymandering. Proposition 106 amended
Arizona’s Constitution, removing redistricting authority from the Arizona
Legislature and vesting it in an independent commission, the
Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (AIRC).
