Obama Films Self Making $5,000 Donation to Own Campaign  

President Barack Obama donated $5,000 to his own campaign on Tuesday and filmed himself doing it in a YouTube video.

The video shows Obama using an Apple laptop to punch in his donation.

“First of all, I think everybody should know that I really care about this campaign and I believe in what our administration is doing, and I want to make sure that folks know I’m not just talking the talk, I’m walking the walk,” Obama says in the video.

Despite having Hollywood, pop culture, and the mainstream media giving him free advertising around the clock, Obama frames himself as the underdog and Republicans as the ones who receive "massive checks" that he does not.

"We don't get some of the massive checks the other side does," Obama says in the video, even as his campaign has held multiple fundraisers where the cost of admission has been $30,000 or $40,000 a plate.

In the video, Obama also assures everyone that he received permission from his wife, Michelle, to spend $5,000 on his campaign.

“I have cleared this with Michelle; I want everybody to know,” Obama says.

Obama also released an email to supporters in which he touted his donation.

"On its own, what I gave won't be enough to surmount the unprecedented fundraising we've seen on the other side, both from our opponent's campaign and from the outside groups and special interests supporting him," the message states. "But we have always believed that there's nothing we can't do when we all pitch in. That includes me."

It may be difficult, though, for Obama to find non-celebrities who can afford to donate to his campaign given the condition of his economy.
